The
gospel
legendary
singer
Pastor
Charles
Charamba
who rose
to
stardom
with his
original
compositions
that
weave
social
commentary
and
spiritual
redemption
makes a
United
States
debut
tour
with his
wife and
fellow
singer
Olivia.
His
vocal
style
that is
supported
by
indigenous
rhythms
can make
you rise
on your
feet to
dance
the
night
away yet
the
lyrics
provoke
spiritual
reflection
that
leaves
you
yearning
for
more.
Pastor
Charamba’s
first
album
introduced
his work
to the
world
but his
next
album
John 3 V
16
literally
rocked
audiences
both in
religious
and
secular
communities.
The
meteoric
success
of this
bestselling
album
defined
Charamba
as an
appealing
singer
whose
voice
blends
tenor
and alto
falsetto
and from
that
point he
never
looked
back. In
2004 he
brought
another
gift to
the
world in
the form
of
Chapters
and
Verses,
an album
that
disappeared
from the
shelves
at the
pace it
was
stocked.
Within
four
weeks
the
album
had sold
in
excess
of 100
000
copies.
His
catalogue
touches
on
issues
that
range
from
spiritual
redemption
to
social
issues
such as
the
importance
of
marriage
and
fidelity
in
preventing
HIV/AIDS.
Ever
since he
became a
full-time
singer,
Pastor
Charamba
never
abandoned
his
roots as
a
preacher.
His
songs
and even
album
titles
draw
inspiration
from the
Bible
and yet
he is
able to
combine
those
biblical
teachings
with his
social
message.
Charamba
has
never
shied
away
from his
role as
a
teacher.
He
revealed
his
approach
to The
Sunday
Standard
when
asked
how he
composed
a song.
“I have
three
approaches.
The
first is
like
that of
a
teacher,”
Charamba
shared.
“Each
song is
original
and as
good as
the
next. I
try as
much as
possible
to make
the
songs
different
and
strive
for
variety.
I am not
in the
habit of
throwing
messages
about
haphazardly,”
he
added.
His wife
Olivia,
a diva
of
repute,
complements
her
husband
in this
musical
treat
not to
be
missed
by music
fans
that
appreciate
music
that
transcends
culture.
Pastor
Charamba
is no
ordinary
singer.
He
sincerely
believes
he has a
calling
to
spread a
message
of
redemption,
love and
righteousness
to the
world.
As a
former
pastor
of the
Apostolic
Faith
his
songs
still
carry
the
weight
of a
preacher
and the
mellow
rhythms
that
accompany
smooth
lyrics
puts him
across
as an
entertainer.
His
ability
to
combine
entertainment
and
teachings
has
solidified
his
stature
as a
gospel
artiste.
And
Pastor
Charamba
does not
rest on
his
laurels.
He
continues
to
compose
even for
his wife
who
sings in
the
English
language.
He
admits
he can
not sing
in the
English
language
so he
leaves
that to
his
beloved
wife. No
matter
whether
one is a
believer
or not
there is
something
to learn
from
Pastor
Charamba’s
music.
One good
example
is from
his
album
aptly
titled
New
Testament
in which
he talks
about
merits
of
marriage,
the
folly of
drinking
and
driving
and the
dangers
of
paganism.
Now
after
buying
his
albums
and
listening
to his
music
over the
radio,
Pastor
Charamba
has
decided
to give
his fans
an
opportunity
to sing
along
with him
as he
tours
the
United
States
this
fall.
His
performances
never
fall
short of
expectations,
he
amuses
the
crowd
and he
entrances
listeners
of all
backgrounds.
